IATA opens office in Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has opened its office in Vietnam , which will help airlines, travel agents, cargo agents and air service providers in the area of aviation safety, security and the environment.

According to the head of IATA Vietnam Do Nhu Phung, the office will shortly
establish and implement IATA's Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), designed to
facilitate and simplify ticket sale and payment procedures between an airlines and
their agents.

At present, BSP is being applied in 160 countries and territories.

The association also plans to develop a similar system for cargo agents this year.

Vietnam Airlines joined the association, which now boasts its membership of 230, in
