NAJIB IS A CAPABLE LEADER, SAY CHIEF MINISTERS

MELAKA (Malaysia), April 3 (Bernama) -- Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam said
Thursday he has high confidence in Najib Tun Razak's ability as the
country's sixth prime minister.

He said that Najib, whom he described as a highly experienced leader, would
be fully supported by the people.

"I, on behalf of the Melaka state government and state Barisan Nasional
component parties, express our undivided support to Najib," he told
reporters after opening the Melaka education carnival in Ayer Keroh here
Thursday.

Najib is scheduled to take his oath of office as the prime minister
Friday, succeeding Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Mohd Ali also paid tribute to Abdullah whom he said had done a lot of good
deeds to the country and Melaka.

Meanwhile in KUCHING, Sarawak (East Malaysia) Chief Minister Abdul Taib
Mahmud expressed full support to Najib's leadership.

"He is a known figure to us. We anticipate how he works and we will support
and complement his move," he told reporters.

Taib said Najib had a long political career and vast experience in the
country's administration.

He hoped that the new leadership would continue to give attention and bring
development to Sarawak.
