TRABZON (A.A) - 02.04.2009 - Turkey has exported 175,198 tons of hazelnuts and earned 841.3 million USD in the past seven months.
The hazelnuts export season began on September 1, 2008 and a quintal (one hundred kilos) of hazelnuts sold for approximately 443 USD.
Turkish hazelnuts were exported to more than 90 countries worldwide.
137,260 tons of hazelnuts were exported to the European Union countries.
Turkey exported 152,155 tons of hazelnuts in the last season (covering 2007-2008) earning 1.1 billion USD.
Turkey is the major grower of hazelnuts in the world.
