HP OPENS NEW RM1.5 MLN TECHNOLOGY CENTRE
KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- Hewlett-Packard, the world's largest
technology company, has invested RM1.5 million (US$0.4 million)in its new HP
Adaptive Infrastructure Discovery Centre (AIDC) located here.
The centre was launched Thursday to cater to the needs of customers on
maintaining their information technology (IT) infrastructure, especially during
the current economic downturn.
HP Malaysia's marketing manager Raymond Yap said that under the economic
slowdown, customers were looking to cut costs, reduce risk and leverage IT
resources to gain greater advantage.
He said the centre together with the HP Adaptive Infrastructure (AI)
initiative will deliver integrated product and service set needed for
comprehensive management and non-stop operations for next-generation technology
environments.
"HP is building on its AI initiative by delivering innovative data centre
technologies to meet customers' technology challenges today, and to help them
emerge strong when the economy improves," Yap said.
The technologies, he said, could help customers to adapt their business
needs by moving from "high-cost IT islands to low-cost pooled technology assets
and services".
The Kuala Lumpur AIDC is among the four new centres established by
Hewlett-Packard, with the other three located in France, Germany and the United
States.
These joined five existing centres that are located in China, Taiwan, South
Korea, Australia and France.
