National Science and Technology Council convenes

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The National Science and Technology Council held its first meeting for 2019 on May 15. With Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg as the chair, the council discussed the current state of the sector, pressing issues, goals as well as the report for 2018 and plans for 2019.
As of currently, a draft law on amendments to the Law on Innovation has been submitted, and a bill on science parks is being developed. Alongside the government policy on innovation, the national programme on developing research universities and the science, technology and innovation personnel development programme are also being implemented.
Noting that corresponding committees in aimags and the capital are discussing a draft law on amendments to the Law on Science and Technology, the officials highlighted that some of the pressing issues include improving the sector’s legal framework, creating the conditions to increase investment and financing, enhancing the structure and management of scientific organizations.
Minister Yo.Baatarbileg obliged the corresponding officials to enhance the benefits of research project results, have it promoted to the public as well as responsibly take measures for the council’s plans in 2020.
