Shura, Derasat to boost research programmes

Manama, May 13 (BNA): The Shura Council and Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) have signed a MoU to consolidate their relations and launch research and training programmes. The MoU was signed by Shura Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh and Derasat Chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Al Saleh said that the Council was keen on fostering relations with various research centres based on the belief that specialised studies and research contributed to the development and progress sought by all institutions. Derasat has built a sound reputation in conducting strategic studies and comprehensive research and in highlighting Bahrain's progress in various areas and sectors, he added. The MoU will include conducting surveys and field studies that would support the work of the Council as well as well as holding training sessions and workshops to enhance professional skills, he said. Shaikh Abdullah said the MoU was part of the new strategy by Derasat to bolster partnerships with all institutions and provide decision makers with the necessary information based on solid facts. Recording the achievements accomplished by Bahrain during the rule of His Majesty King Hamad is a national requisite that Derasat is keen on realizing, he added. The Derasat chairman lauded the crucial importance of the Shura Council in the service of the reform process launched by His Majesty King Hamad.
