STOP ACT OF POLITICAL GANGSTERISM - SENATOR

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- A senator ticked off certain members of
parliament for indulging in what he described as an act of political gangsterism
by hurling allegations and abusive words against the leaders.

Senator Gooi Hoe Hin said the political gangsterism should not be
allowed to thrive in the Lower House of Parliament as it would mar the personal
character of the MPs and the country.

"I pray for such behaviour to end. This is the hope of the people. Repent
and debate like normal human beings. Don't render the august house useless," he
said when debating on the royal address at the Senate here Tuesday.

Senator Musa Sheikh Fadzir, who interjected, said the problem would
not have occurred if the people uphold the Federal Constitution and embrace the
Rukun Negara (National Principles).

"But some people want to be political heroes and have no respect for
others," he said.

Gooi said the Federal Constitution should be a compulsory subject in school
to enable students to understand and appreciate the social contract.
