Strong Quake Strikes Eastern New Guinea Region

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale occurred near eastern Papua New Guinea (P.N.G) at 5.19 am (Malaysian time) Tuesday. According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department issued here Tuesday, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 32 km west of Bulolo, P.N.G. There is no tsunami threat to Malaysia, said the statement. -- BERNAMA
