Taylor, Rooke to face AFL tribunal
Hawthorn ruckman Simon Taylor and Geelong utility Max Rooke appear the reported
players in the most peril after Friday night's fiery AFL clash.
They were among four players booked during the grand final rematch at the MCG.
Taylor kneed Cats midfielder Joel Selwood in the head during the first term.
The Geelong youngster had to leave the field with concussion, although he later
returned to the match.
Selwood's head also hit the turf heavily just before the contact from Taylor.
Rooke was booked for his bump on Hawks captain Sam Mitchell in the third term.
Mitchell was not expecting the contact, which happened a few metres from the play.
Adding to Rooke's nervous wait for the match review panel's findings on Monday is
his 85.63 carryover points from a one-match suspension last August.
That means if Rooke is suspended for the Mitchell bump, his penalty will probably go
up by one game.
Hawthorn's Norm Smith medallist Luke Hodge also has 71.38 carryover points from last
season, but the match review panel should have good news for him.
Hodge was booked for striking Geelong forward Tom Lonergan as the Hawks star tried
to spoil.
Hodge appeared to touch the ball before the contact and this will weigh heavily in
his favour.
Geelong defender Andrew Mackie was reported for his "love tap" to the midriff of
Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf.
The other report from round one is against Carlton's Kade Simpson for his front-on
bump to Richmond onballer Daniel Jackson.
