KL DESIGN WEEK BEGINS WITH THE WORLD LARGEST ECO BAG
KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Design Week 2009 KLDW'09) Festival is showcasing the 'World's Largest Eco Bag' hanging on the Kuala Lumpur Tower.
The bag measuring 51.5 feet high and 29.65 feet wide was created to enhance
Malaysia's name in the global design arena and has entered the Guinness Book of
World Records.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail who officiated the opening
ceremony of KLDW'09 said the event being held for the first time marks the
beginning for Malaysians to be creative as a generating force in the city's
economic development.
"To create the opportunity for economic development, poeple should create
something from nothing especially in designing a creative product from time to
time to suit consumer needs," he said.
About 40 designers from 15 countries are gathering here for the nine-day
festival which ends on April 4.
KLDW'09 is set to run in seven prime locations namely the National Art
Gallery, CapSquare KL, KL Tower, Le Meridien Hotel, KLCC, Matic and The Annexe
Central Market.
It will showcase a collection of over 1,000 designs from designers around
the world.
