CVLB ASSURES 10-MINUTE WAITING TIME FOR TAXI AT KLIA
KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Effective April 1, the waiting time for
the public to get a taxi at the KL International Airport (KLIA) will not exceed
10 minutes.
Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) chairman Markiman Kobiran
said this being that Airport Limo (M) Sdn Bhd (ALM), the concessionaire for the
airport taxi service, was required to ensure passenger were able to get into
their taxis within the stipulated period after arriving at the taxi bay.
"If ALM fails to do so, it will recompensate payment for the taxi coupons,
if there are claims from the affected passengers, " he said in a statement
Friday.
He said it was one of the terms in the concession agreement signed between
ALM and CVLB, but the public was not aware of it.
He said that by enforcing the term, it would help to improve the taxi
service at the airport.
Meanwhile, when contacted by Bernama, Markiman said ALM had a fleet of more
than 1,200 taxis at KLIA, comprising budget, premier, luxury and family taxi
service.
He said that under certain circumstances, like heavy rain, flooding or
traffic congestion, when the airport taxis were unable to return to KLIA
according to schedule, town taxis would be allowed to take passengers at the
airport.
However, he said, the town taxi drivers would have to abide by certain
regulations, including using index numbers and to accept the fare payment using
coupons issued by ALM.
