M'SIA SEEKS JUSTICE FOR PALESTINIANS - DPM
KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will continue to fight
injustice against humanity especially genocide against the Palestinians, said
Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak.
He said Malaysia would continue to uphold the principles of justice for all
irrespective of their religions or ethnic groups.
"The Palestinians are entitled to their rights for justice. It is unfair if
the principles of humanitarian and justice catered only for some people in
certain parts of the world.
"Justice is not only for certain groups of people. It is the rights of all
irrespective of their religions or ethnic groups or considerations," he said
when launching the Genocide in Gaza Exhibition at the Putra World Trade Centre
(PWTC) here Wednesday.
The Deputy United Malays national organisation (Umno) President said
Malaysia must show that the humanitarian rights were not only meant for the
powerful or those, who enjoyed the support of the superpowers, while the weak
were denied them.
"We must fight this injustice. Hopefully through our efforts today, an
exhibition of this nature can influence the world community.
"This is an example of our efforts to help Palestine regain its sovereignty
and the rights to justice," he said, adding that, Malaysia would continue with
its efforts to take the Zionist to the international court.
Expressing his gratitude to the people for their readiness to help and
donate to the victims of disasters and atrocities, he said Malaysia was at the
forefront in its concern on the humanitarian problem.
On the exhibition, he jokingly said that it would be a political mileage for
Foreign Minister Dr Rais Yatim, who is vying for the vice-presidency to the
applause from the audience.
Commenting on Najib's remarks, Rais said his chances rest with the delegates
and was overwhelmed by Najib's presence.
Organised by the Foreign Ministry, the Information Ministry and Yayasan
Salam Malaysia, Rais said most of the pictures from the exhibition would be
exhibited in London where a forum would also be held.
He said former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be among the
speakers at the forum on the Israeli aggression.
Rais said it was part of Malaysia's effort to take the Israeli regime to
either the Humanitarian Rights Convention or the International Court through the
United Nations.
About 100 pictures on the Israeli invasion in Gaza taken by non-governmental
organisation Yayasan Salam and Malaysian national news agency (Bernama) were
displayed at the exhibition on the third level of the PWTC.
