Prime Minister receives Singaporean ambassador

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received newly-accredited Singaporean ambassador Wong Wie Kuen in Hanoi on March 25.

During the meeting, PM Dung said that Vietnam-Singapore friendship and cooperation
are developing in many fields.

Since the two countries signed a framework agreement on linking their economies in
Dec. 2005, Singapore became one of the leading commercial partners of Vietnam
, with two-way trade reaching 12 billion USD last year, a year-on-year increase of
22 percent.

The PM told his guest that Vietnam welcomes the visit by Minister Mentor Lee
Kuan Yew, which will take place next month.

He expressed his wish that the diplomat will do his utmost to promote the two
countries' relations, especially in the fields of investment, trade, health and
education.

For his part, Wong Wie Kuen spoke highly of Vietnam 's achievements during the
process of national construction and development.

He pledged to make all efforts for a further bilateral cooperation between
Vietnam and Singapore.-Enditem
