Vietnamese tennis stars surprise

HCM City (VNA) - Unseeded Vietnamese tennis players Huynh Mai Huynh and Tran Thi Tam
Hao staged an outstanding match to win the women's doubles title at the 2009 PPT
Bangkok Open.

They dominated Thailand 's third seed team Sunthree and Chaolu 2-1 (6-4, 3-6,
6-2) in the final match.

It was not quite as bright in the single's event, as Hao, who scored an upset
straight set victory over top seed Thai player Achigaza in the semi-finals, lost to
veteran Thai player Parachart in the final match to bring home the silver medal.

The Vietnamese men lost their semi-final matches.

Minh Quan and Mai Huynh won the men's and women's championships at this tournament
