Hanoi delegation visits RoK

Seoul (VNA) - The Republic of Korea (RoK) is making every effort to further
develop and expand the friendship and cooperation with Vietnam , Prime Minister
Han Seung-soo said while receiving a Hanoi delegation in Seoul on Mar. 23.

The Hanoi delegation, led by Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang
Nghi, is on a working visit from Mar. 20-24, as guest of the RoK government.

PM Han Seung-soo and the Hanoi delegation exchanged views on the situation in
the two countries and discussed measures to boost the two countries' bilateral
ties.

The RoK PM expressed his hope for further development of relations between the two
countries, especially the two capital cities of Seoul and Hanoi for the
benefits for the two peoples as well as for peace, stability and development in
the region.

He said his country is preparing to welcome PM Nguyen Tan Dung when he pays an
official visit to the RoK and attends the ASEAN+3 meeting in Jeju early June.

Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi highly appreciated the assistance
the RoK government and businesses have extended to Vietnam , including Hanoi .


He stressed the Vietnamese government's consistent foreign policy of continually
enhancing cooperation and friendship with the RoK, striving to lift bilateral
relations to a new height.

Earlier, at a working session with the Mayor of Seoul Oh Sei Hoon, Nghi
highlighted the dynamic development of Hanoi-Seoul cooperation, with the
cooperation project on development of the areas on both sides of the Red River
as a vivid manifestation. The project was initiated by President Lee Myung-bak
when he was the Mayor of Seoul.

On this occasion, Nghi informed the Seoul Mayor of the plan to mark the 1000 th
anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in October 2010. He invited leaders of Seoul
to attend the event.

Mayor Oh said he is interested in projects on support for Hanoi 's development,
adding Seoul is ready to share experiences in urban development with Vietnam
.

He spoke highly of the potential for development of Vietnam in general and
Hanoi in particular and expressed his belief that the two capitals' cooperation
would be further strengthened.

During the five-day visit, the Hanoi delegation also met with RoK major groups
and businesses, including Kumho Asiana, Lotte group and Posco construction
