Death sentence for man convicted of spying for Israel

SANA'A, March 23 (Saba) - The Primary Penal Court passed here on Monday a death
sentence for the first accused in the Israeli spy case.

Judge Muhsen Alwan said defendant Bassam Abdallah al-Haidari, 26, sent an e-mail
message to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and offered to
collaborate with the Jewish state.

The court also ruled that Ali Abdullah al-Ezzi be imprisoned for five years and Imad
Ali al-Rimi for three years in charges of publishing false news and official
document forgery.

The three men, arrested last year, went on trial in January. They accused of
operating under the name of the little-known Organization of Islamic Jihad and
spreading false news of attacks on government buildings, embassies and foreign
interests in Yemen in 2008.
