ICC deputy chairman appointed as ACYE deputy chairman

Manama, Jan. 13 (BNA): The Amman-based Arab Centre for Youth Empowerment (ACYE) has appointed Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Deputy Board of Trustees’ Chairman of the Bahrain-based Isa Cultural Centre (ICC), as its deputy board of trustees chairman. HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan has been appointed as the Board of Trustees' Chairperson.
The Arab Youth Empowerment Centre is one of the initiatives of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Prince Mohammed Bin Fahad International Foundation.
The centre aims to help to effectively and positively create a quantum shift in the Arab youth reality in various fields and discover the youths’ outstanding talents and skills to achieve global accomplishments and sense the needs of youth and suggest programmes and projects in each Arab country to serve youth worldwide. The centre is considered an intellectual hatchery for Arab youth to exchange and support youthful ideas from various Arab states to transform them into practical projects that wills serve the target communities.
This latest appointment adds to the career and academic milestones of Dr. Shaikh Khalid who is currently the Deputy Board of Trustees Chairman of the Isa Cultural Centre, Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, member of Bahrain’s Quality Authority for Education and Training Quality Assurance (BQA) as per Royal Orders/Decrees. He served as a member of Shura Council between 2002 and 2014. He was elected chairman of the Shura Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security. He was history lecturer in the University of Bahrain (UoB) in 1981 where he was promoted as associate professor after obtaining the doctoral degree in history and economics from Essex University, UK. He was promoted as Director of Admission and Registration in the University of Bahrain, then as the UoB’s Vice President of Administrative and Financial Affairs, then to UoB’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, and he was also commissioned as the UoB’s Acting President as well.
