Yemen, WB review support for SWF beneficiaries

HODEIDAH, March 22 (Saba) - Yemen and World Bank (WB) reviewed here
on Sunday the WB project of supporting Social Welfare Fund (SWF)
with $ 20 million for about 40,000 beneficiaries throughout the
country.

During her meeting with Hodeidah governor Ahmed al-Jabali, WB Human
Development Specialist Afrah al-Ahmadi said that the European Union
(EU) has allocated this grant to alleviate impacts of the global
food crisis and help needy people temporarily by granting sum of
money.

The purpose of this visit is to get acquainted with the governorate
nature and to help in designing the next project of WB to provide
institutional and administrative support for the SWF, al-Ahmadi said.

Al-Jabali affirmed the importance of including those beneficiaries
within the WB projects and providing them with job opportunities,
expressing the governorate's readiness to provide all possible
facilities to WB projects.
