Industry ministry, WTC discuss cooperation

SANA'A, March 22 (Saba)- Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya
al-Mutawakil discussed on Sunday with vice executive director of
World Trade Center (WTC) Stephen Brown possibilities of the WTC to
contribute to preparing a national strategy to develop Yemeni
exports.

The two sides discussed Yemen's efforts to join World Trade
Organization and steps Yemen has taken in this regards, in addition
to the current partnership between the government and private sector
in different fields as well as reflections of the international
financial crisis on developing countries.

The minister affirmed concern of Yemen to improve its exports
especially non-oil exports in order to diversify economy resources,
noting efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade exerted in this
regards.

For his part, the WTC official affirmed the importance of Yemen to
focus on the stage following the accession to WTO to build
capacities of exports, briefing the minister on activities of the
WTC in supporting developing countries to strengthen their economy.
