Yemen, WB sign WSSP grant agreement
SANA'A, March 21 (Saba) - Yemen and World Bank (WB) have signed a
grant agreement of the Water Sector Support Project (WSSP) amounting
to $ 90 million.
The WSSP aims to improve the institutional capacities of water
sector and its corporations to prop up the water sustainability,
increasing revenues of water usage and reducing its wastes.
The project contains four key components in rural water projects in
a number of governorates, through developing the existing projects,
establishing new ones and promoting the access for safe drinking
water to realize the National Water Strategy's goals.
The project's total cost amounts to $ 340 million. $140 million of
the amount is the contribution of government, $ 90 million from WB
and $ 60 million from Germany, while Netherlands contributes to $ 48
million.
