Speaker receives NAO President

Manama, Dec. 19 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal received today President of the National Audit Office (NAO) Hassan bin Khalifa Al Jalahma who was accompanied by NAO Undersecretary For Administrative Auditing Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa and NAO Undersecretary for Financial Auditing Fayaq Ali Dhaif. The Representatives Council Speaker received a copy of NAO report for the fiscal year 2017-2018, in the presence of Representatives Council First Deputy Speaker Abdul Nabi Salman, Second Deputy Speaker Ali Zayed, Secretary General Rashid bin Mohammed Bunajma and Head of the Advisory Board Dr. Saleh Al Ghathith. She affirmed that protecting public money is a common national responsibility, pointing out keenness of the Representatives Council to promote the role of the state of institutions and law as well as exercise its monitoring and legislative role according to the constitution and under the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Representatives Council Speaker praised the efforts of NAO in assuming its monitoring responsibilities to protect public money. She asserted that the council will deal with NAO's report according to legal procedures by referring it to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee to prepare its report on it. She emphasised that the Representatives Council will spare no effort to protect public money. The NAO President said he had the honour to submit a copy of the office's annual report for the fiscal year 2017-2018 to the Representatives Council Speaker as per article (19) of the National Audit Office Law. He added that cooperation between NAO and the Representatives Council is one of the fundamentals of the office's success to fulfil its duties professionally and competently.
