Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): The Passenger Terminal Building’s various functions, systems, and procedures will undergo operational readiness trials in February next year to ensure they are ready for its official launch in Q3 2019. Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) announced during the third National Operations Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) Airport Partners workshop. In attendance were senior officials from the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Ministry of Interior , Gulf Air, Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), airlines, BAC management, and other representatives from key organisations operating at BIA as well as the project’s construction team. Representatives from Fraport AG, which is providing consultancy services for the new Passenger Terminal Building, briefed stakeholders on ongoing ORAT activities, timelines, and expectations as well as the trials. Updates to the new terminal’s IT systems, the commercial charging model, landside transportation and shuttle services were also highlighted during the workshop. In his keynote presentation, BAC Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said: "I would like to thank all our partners at the airport for their dedicated efforts to prepare for the new Passenger Terminal Building’s operational readiness trials, which represent a major a milestone for the Airport Modernisation Programme. The importance of these trials cannot be overstated; they are vital to ensure the readiness of all services providers, a smooth transfer process to the new facility and the successful commencement of daily aircraft and passengers operations. I am confident that by working together as a team, all expectations for the new terminal will be exceeded. The end of this year marks almost 33 months since the start of construction program and, thanks to the support and cooperation of our strategic partners, we have achieved a great deal. The next nine months will be very intense and challenging, which demands even greater cooperation, focus, and commitment by all the parties involved in the delivery of this national programme." The workshops are part of a comprehensive programme, designed by BAC in cooperation with Fraport AG, to ensure the operational readiness of all parties involved with the new Passenger Terminal Building. They play an important role in the ORAT process by creating alignment among the airport community and providing a platform to exchange information and discuss key topics.
