Bahrain welcomes UK human rights report

Manama, Dec.8 (BNA): Bahrain has today welcomed the annual Human Rights and Democracy Report issued by the UK Minister of State for Human Rights at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The report, which concerned human rights in Bahrain and other countries, considered human rights priority countries by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Foreign Ministry commended the report’s high level of objectivity, based on clear facts and reflecting the Kingdom’s efforts in promoting human rights. The report also highlighted the Kingdom’s achievement in reaching Tier 1 in the US Department of State Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report, as the first country in the region to reach such a global status. The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to cooperating with allies to promote the concept of respect for human rights and preserve freedom in accordance with international standards, as well as continue to work on reaching similar achievements in this area.
