`WE ARE MALAYSIANS` SONG IN SIX LANGUAGES
SHAH ALAM (Malaysia), March 20 (Bernama) -- The tourism ministry will
introduce a theme song for its new tourism campaign in six languages.
The song, 'We Are Malaysians (Kami Anak Malaysia)', will be rendered in
Malay, English, Mandarin, Tamil, Iban and Kadazan to lure the public, especially
the young generation, to support the campaign.
Minister Azalina Othman Said said the song was an adaptation from
Dr Sam's "Saya Anak Malaysia'(I Am Malaysian) which was popular in the 1980s.
"The theme song will be rendered with a modern music arrangement to attract
the young generation to participate in the campaign," she said in her speech at
the launch of 'We Are Malaysians' campaign here Thursday.
The campaign was officiated by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi here Thursday.
Also present were Deputy Higher Education Minister Idris Haron and
Education director-general Alimuddin Mohd Dom.
Azalina said the campaign was aimed at creating awareness among students
on Malaysia as an interesting holiday destination, besides educating the
public on the importance of tourism for the country's social and economic
development.
"The campaign will be expanded through the student tourism programme under
the school tourism clubs. So far, 601 such clubs have been set up in schools
nationwide," she added.
