EAST COAST M`SIAN STATE, LARGEST MUTTON PRODUCER BY 2013
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), March 20 (Bernama) -- East coast
Terengganu-state in Peninsular Malaysia, is expected to be the country's largest
mutton producer, in four years' time.
State agriculture and agro-based industry committee chairman Rozi Mamat said
mutton production in the state was expected to increase to 1,700 tonnes in 2013,
from the current 326 tonnes.
"This means a total of 45,000 goats will be slaughtered annually from 2013,"
he told reporters after officiating the 18th general meeting of the Terengganu
Livestock Breeders Association here Thursday.
Currently, Terengganu is breeding 33,000 goats under four projects
implemented by both the state and federal governments, costing RM104 million.
