BAKU HOSTS NOWRUZ-2009 INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
Baku, 17 March (AzerTAc) The international youth festival Nowruz-2009 organized by the European Students’ Forum – Baku (AEGEE-Baku) is underway in the capital city of Azerbaijan.
The event aims to acquaint youth from across the world with customs, traditions, values and history of the Azerbaijani people, to encourage intercultural youth exchange and bring the real situation in the country to the notice of the international community.
The festival brings together over 25 young people from 14 countries including Germany, Georgia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Japan, Turkey and Russia.
Participants of the festival will celebrate Nowruz holiday with Azerbaijani host families.
During six days, they will tour historical sites and take part in Nowruz festivities in Baku.
The program of the festival also includes seminars on the themes such as “Tolerance”, “Local traditions and globalization”, “Culture in the contemporary world” and “Music as means of self-expression.”
