Yemen, UK DFID discuss partnership agreement

SANA'A, March 17 (Saba) - Yemen and UK's Department for
International Development (DFID) discussed Tuesday the
Yemeni-British cooperation relations, particularly related to the
partnership agreement between the two countries.

Prime Minister Ali Mujawar and the DFID official for the Middle
East, Asia and the Caribbean Sue Wardle reviewed the economic
challenges face Yemen in the aftermath of the global financial
crisis and the priorities of assistance that can be provided by
Britain to reduce the crisis's effects in Yemen.

The national reform agenda for 2009-2010 and what had been achieved
over the past two years, especially in the areas of enhancing the
investment environment, developing the judiciary, fighting
corruption and reforming tenders and auctions system, were discussed
in the meeting held in Sana'a.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation of the British support
for Yemen's development programs and reforms, pointing out the
importance of continuing this support as well as reviewing the
procedures taken by Yemen to undergo the effects of the global
financial crisis.

For her part, the British official said her visit comes within the
ongoing talks to create a plan of the British support for the years
to come, praising the steps carried out by the Yemeni government
within the framework of its comprehensive reforms.
