MALAYSIA TO INITIATE FTA TALKS WITH GCC COUNTRIES

DUBAI, March 18 (Bernama) - Malaysia is planning to initiate negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)countries to further enhance ties between the business sectors of Malaysia and the region.
Minister of International Trade and Industry, Muhyiddin Yassin said
the progress negotiations on the FTA were expected to commence by this year.
"While trade and investment between our countries have been growing over the
years, the value is still very small and limited to certain sectors," he told
reporters at the ongoing Malaysia Services Exhibition 2009 here Tuesday.
