IRAN'S NANO TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CAN BENEFIT MALAYSIA
SAJAD HUSSEIN
KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia can gain from Iran's experience in developing nano technology, according to a leading Iranian nano product supplier, Vahid Tahmasebi.
He told Bernama that the nano technology which was relatively new, was well
advanced in Iran with its vast research facilities.
According to Tahmasebi, Malaysia should work closely with Iran under the D8
group framework to acquire this technology which was gaining ground world wide
with its huge potential for practical day-to-day applications both at home and
in industries.
The membership of the D8 grouping comprises developing Islamic countries
namely, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan and
Bangladesh.
Tahmasebi, who is the general manager of the Iranian PNPI Group based here,
said nano products were widely used as purifiers, sterilisers and deodorisers.
It can be used in swimming pools, hospitals, homes for cleaning utensils,
washing clothes and generally keeping the environment free of bacteria and other
infectants.
Nano silver is used in refrigerators, air conditioners and washing
machines.
Tahmasebi said another area which Malaysia could possibly explore with Iran
was collaboration in the research and development of veterinary vaccines.
He stated that Iran's Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Centre, established
since 1925, is world renown for producing some of the best vaccines for foot
and mouth disease, bird flu and anthrax spores.
He said his company was working towards getting the Razi Centre to open a
branch in Malaysia.
