Health ministry, JICA sign $ 1mln agreement to combat malnutrition
SANA'A, March 16 (Saba) - Ministry of Public Health and Population
and Japanese International Cooperation Agency JICA signed on Monday
an agreement of motherhood and childhood project at sum of $ 1
million.
The cost of the project is $ 1.2 million for four years starting
from this year to improve nourishment and health among mothers and
children in rural regions in Sana'a Hadramout and Ibb
governorates.
The agreement was signed by the minister of public health and
population Abdul-Kareem Rasa and representative of the JICA in
Yemen.
Rasa pointed out to the efforts of the ministry to combat the
malnutrition among mothers and children in the country, saying that
the ministry contacted recently with several countries and donors to
help in reducing impacts of this problem.
On the other hand, Rasa held talks with the United Nations
Children's Fund - UNICEF representative to Yemen Abduh Karim Adajadi
over health cooperation between the ministry and the organization in
combating malnutrition.
The UNICEF voiced readiness of the organization to present $ 5
million to support efforts of the country to combat malnutrition in
coming period.
