Yemen signs Germany aid deals


SANA'A, March 15 (Saba) – Yemen and Germany signed Sunday in Sana'a
two memorandums of understanding whereby the GTZ German Technical
Cooperation will donate € 11 million to support reforms and
implement food security policies in Yemen.

The two MOUs were signed at the ministry of Planning and
International Cooperation by Minister Abdul Karim Al-Arhabi and the
GTZ director Thomas Engelhardt.

Under one of the two MOUs, Yemen will receive € 4 million to support
implementing reforms at the Central Organization for Control and
Auditing, the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Committee, the office
of Attorney General and the National Institute for Administrative
Sciences in addition to promoting the role of the civil society
organizations.

And according to the second, the Yemeni government will get € 7
million to implement food security plans through increasing crop
production as well as conducting awareness campaigns about the
effects of qat.

The aid sum will cover four typical agricultural areas in Tahama,
Lahj and Abyan provinces as well as the Middle Heights.
