USAID praises Yemeni economic performance
SANA'A, March 15 (Saba) - U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID) has praised the steps taken by Yemen to improve economic
performance and the tenders reforming including the issuance of the
bid law No. 23 as well as the formation of the Higher Tender
Committee (HTC).
USAID representative Robert Beckman said at the opening of the
training program on tender and government purchase that the training
programs supported by USAID comes under the cooperation agreement
signed between US and Yemen.
This five-day training program implemented by the High Tender
Committee in cooperation with USAID, is the 9th out of 10 that would
train about 190 cadres and specialists in the areas of tender and
government purchase from the different ministries and governorates.
For his part, the HTC head Mohammad al-Junaid said training the
tender sub-committees at the central and local levels is the gate to
improve economic performance and enhance transparency and efficiency
in the tenders and public purchase procedures.
It is scheduled that about 25 participants working in purchase and
tender sub-committees in Saada, Amran, Mahweet and Dhamar
governorates as well as a number of purchase specialists in the
Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption will receive
lectures on tenders law and its executive bylaw.
