PM directs Fisheries Ministry to submit fishing regulations
SANA'A, March 15 (Saba) - During his visit to Wealth Fisheries
Ministry on Sunday, Prime Minster Ali Mujawar directed the Ministry
to submit the regulations of fishing as soon as possible to the
Cabinet.
The Premier stressed the Ministry should coordinate with the
concerned authorities for applying the fishing law and strengthening
the observation system on the fishing operations, and unloading
centers, as well as enhancing procedures of marine environmental and
fisheries wealth protection from haphazard fishing styles.
During his meeting with leadership of the ministry, Mujawar affirmed
the major role of the ministry in regularizing operations of
fishing, marketing and service supervision, pointing to the exerted
efforts by the Ministry's leadership in developing the fishery
sector and its effective role in economic and social development.
"The Ministry should arrange its priorities to make a strong start
includes the requirements for developing this vital economic sector"
the premier said. He assured the joint role of public and private
sectors in developing fish experts' volume through developing the
operations related to the good-quality production and adherence to
exporting measures.
Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed Shamlan reviewed the
procedures of implementing the foreign-funded projects within the
fifth project of fisheries management at cost of $32.5 million,
pointing out that the total number of those projects reaches 67 ones
among of which 46 projects are construction.
Over 112 projects will be inaugurated during this year at a total
cost of YR 17 billion in addition to private sector's investment
projects which amounting to about $1,060 billion, Shamlan made clear.
The meeting also reviewed compositions of the Fish Information
Center Project, which aims to find an integral database on the
fishery sector through linking the ministry with its branches in the
coastal governorates and fish unloading centers, about 122 centers,
via a unified network.
