Yemen refuses sending Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo to another

SANA'A, March 14 (Saba) - Yemen has renewed request to the United
States to extradite Yemeni detainees held at the U.S.-run prison
camp at Guantanamo Bay, a security source said on Saturday.

Speaking to Saba, the source said that Yemen opposes sending any
Yemeni detainees to another country but back to home.

"Yemen has a rehabilitation program for prisoners to be released
from Guantanamo", added the source, noting that the program includes
vocational training, family reunification and religious and cultural
tutoring.

U.S. officials have unveiled the United States has discussed sending
some of Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo Bay to Saudi Arabia for
rehabilitation.

U.S. President Barack Obama wants the detainee camp at Guantanamo
Bay to be closed within a year.

The United States currently is holding approximately 240 prisoners,
around 100 of whom are of Yemeni descent.
