Yerevan, March 14, IRNA - Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki discussed ways of
consolidating bilateral ties with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan here Friday.

by evaluating mutual ties, said bilateral relations are designed upon
mutual interests.
Mottaki, by presenting a report on results of joint commission
meeting, said good consultations had been carried out on
transportation, banking, power plant construction, energy and trade to
be finalized in upcoming Armenian President visit to Iran.
Referring to the current annual trade exchange level of 250 million
dollars, the Iranian senior diplomat said that the level is not as
much as the two presidents expect adding that there are good
potentials in the fields of engineering and technical services and the
abilities of Iranian contractors for construction of power plants and
rail road projects should be used to promote ties .
Referring to the current world economic crisis, Mottaki said the
problem has been caused by unilateral interests of a number of world
powers and regional countries should use their own national assets and
rely on their own capabilities to develop regional economy.
Armenian Prime Minister Sargsyan said that his country supports
promotion of ties with Iran and is considering new ways for deepening
bilateral relations.
The Armenian PM, by evaluating world economic developments, said,"We
believe that a new world is being formed and different economic
outlooks will appear in a period of two or three years.
Underlining the importance of Aras Hydro-Electric power plant for both
countries, Sargsyan said that construction of the project can serve
the two countries' need for electricity and Armenia is ready to
provide the financial resources for the project.
