US General Electric Offers Quick And Easy Solutions To The Electricity Crisis In Iraq

BAGHDAD (NINA) Reporter Muhammad Hamid - US giant GE Electric, the world's largest energy and power company, has submitted rapid and long-term strategic plans to the Iraqi government to tackle the country's electricity crisis.
The company's chief executive in Iraq and the Levant, William Wakileh said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): The company has made a proposal and a solution to supply Iraq with 1 kW during the next few days in addition to the production of the company's plants in various provinces of Iraq estimated at 9 KW, pointing out that "1 KW can equip a million housing units with electric power in addition to hospitals and services departments in Baghdad and a number of provinces."
He pointed out that the company is working to rehabilitate and repair the idle electrical units to return them to service, and most of these stations are located in the liberated areas, and Basra.
On the other hand, the Deputy Executive Director of the company in Iraq, Rashid Al -Janabi told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) "The stations of General Electric produced, in different provinces of Iraq, more than 9 kW, and they provide Baghdad and the provinces with the highest electrical power in the world."
He explained that "the work of the company in Iraq is part of the strategic partnership with the Iraqi government, and it is cooperating significantly, where a plan was put forward for the Iraqi government to provide them with 1 kW, and another long-term to double the output what Iraq produced from electricity"
He pointed out that the company's processors in Iraq related to the production of electrical power from the stations and do maintenance to them and dismantle the bottlenecks of transport before distribution, and this is a major problem in Iraq, and we work with the Ministry of Electricity to resolve it through implementing projects rapidly in densely populated areas in Baghdad and other provinces.
He added "The General Electric Company has stations operating in the form of investment for the private sector such as Basmaya station, which produces 2500 megawatts, and in the future it will reach up to 3000 megawatts, and the other under the management of the Ministry of Electricity.
On the company's projects in liberated areas and Basra, Al-Janabi said, "The company is currently completing the rehabilitation of Al-Qayyara station in Mosul, which is one of the main stations in Nineveh, and it is currently producing 400 MW. The company is working to increase it to 600 MW in the future. There is also a plan to rehabilitate some of the gas and steam power stations in Anbar, in Basra and rehabilitate al-Najibiya station, and establish a new station in Khor al-Zubayr.
He explained that "the company has a future plan and important projects in Iraq will be implemented in the future in terms of benefiting from the use of gas associated with the production of oil wells and use it in the field of increasing electrical stations by this gas, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil."
On the manpower of the company, Al-Janabi said, "more than 300 Iraqi engineers working in the plants of the company in Iraq in the field of maintenance and production units, and we are working on involve Iraqi engineers in intensive courses for the purpose promoting their capabilities, especially new graduates, noting that the company has large and huge projects in the field of electric power in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey, as well as some Maghreb countries./ End
