Authorities discuss mining safety

Lam Dong (VNA) - Nearly 100 representatives of provincial authorities, ministries and international organisations are gathering in the Central Highlands' Lam Dong province for a two-day seminar to discuss workplace safety and health in mining and stone exploration.

The March 12-13 seminar will hear speeches on benefits that businesses can reap
from ensuring occupational safety and health, accident insurance and social
partnerships in preventing occupational accidents and diseases, safe mining
technology, and prevention training.

Foreign experts will also present speeches on preventing methane gas explosions in
mines; and safety strategies for building and tapping mines.

Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Bui Hong Linh, said the
seminar will be a forum for sharing experiences and putting forward suitable
measures to raise effectiveness in occupational safety and fire and explosion
prevention in mining and stone exploration.-Enditem
