Iran, Japan to further boost ties

Tokyo, March 11, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Director General Nematollah Izadi said Iran and Japan could further expand bilateral ties.

The Iranian official is here to participate in the consulting session of Iran-Japan political committee.

Referring to the eighty years of relations between the two countries, he pointed to the good ties between Tehran and Tokyo, especially in economic areas, noting that Iran was the third provider of oil to Japan after Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

On the issue of Afghanistan, he said both countries have already discussed the matter and, given Iran’s influential role in the country, Japan is going to propose ways to boost cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo on the issue of Afghanistan soon./end
