Supreme Leader: Iran-Azerbaijan Republic commonalities are unique
Tehran, March 10, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei received Azerbaijan Republic President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday.
In their talks, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the commonalities between the two countries as unique.
The supreme leader said the US and the Zionists are against the expansion of ties between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic adding that the two countries should seriously confront their plots and try to deepen their relations relying on common grounds and potentials.
President Aliyev, for his part, said that he had successful meetings with Iranian senior officials, adding that he would do his best to expand mutual relations in all fields.
Referring to the common threats to the two countries, President Aliyev said that certain countries are trying to influence ties between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic, "but we never allow any foreign power to interfere in our mutual friendly ties."
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present in the meeting.
