SBV licenses Thai bank
Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has licensed the Bangkok Bank Public Co., Ltd of Thailand to open its first branch in Hanoi.
Under the licence, the Bangkok Bank Public Co., Ltd - Hanoi Branch, to be located
on Ngo Quyen Street in Hoan Kiem district, will carry out standard banking
operations such as capital mobilisation, credit activities, and payment and budget
services.
Within 12 months of receiving its licence, the bank must complete all necessary
procedures for the opening of its branch.
By the end of 2008, the SBV licensed three wholly foreign-invested banks, four
foreign bank branches and three 100 percent foreign-invested financial
