Mottaki: Iran ready to boost ties with Tunisia

Tehran, March 10, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Monday evening voiced Tehran’s readiness to further expand all-out ties with the friendly country of Tunisia.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Tunisian Minister of Trade and Handicrafts Ridha Touiti who is currently here to attend an Iran-Tunisia Joint Economic Commission session.

Referring to Iran’s valuable experiences in the areas of agriculture, industry, oil and gas, he voiced the Islamic Republic’s readiness to participate in various development projects in Tunisia.

Cooperation between Iranian and Tunisian companies in various economic fields would benefit both sides, Mottaki added.

Given the two sides' religious and cultural commonalities, he said the two states are seriously determined to further boost bilateral ties in all areas.

The Iranian foreign minister also termed the prospect of bilateral cooperation as “very bright”.

For his part, the Tunisian minister said that the two countries' trade cooperation will be promoted through the inking of an agreement on the preferential tariffs.

He added that his country’s significant geographical position and its trade relations with 50 world states have prepared an appropriate opportunity for Tehran-Tunis trade cooperation./end
