UN has 60-year old wrong policy on Palestine: GA chief
Tehran, March 9, IRNA -- United Nations General Assembly chief Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann said on Monday that the UN's approach towards the Palestinian people over the past 60 years has proved wrong.
He made the statement in an address to a meeting at the Institute for Political and International Studies adding that such a policy in the past six decades has failed to restore the rights of the Palestinian people.
D’Escoto reiterated that the UN policies towards Palestinians should be seriously reconsidered.
The UN General Assembly chief arrived in Tehran Friday evening to attend the 10th Summit of Leaders of the Economic Cooperation Organization to open on Wednesday.
During his stay, he extended an invitation to Iran to take part in the international conference on world financial crisis and its effects on the process of global development which is to be held in New York in June 2009./end
