Car-lover Bana walks Sydney red carpet

Eric Bana added some Hollywood star power to Sydney's George Street on Monday,
stepping out for the world premiere of his new car documentary Love The Beast.
Directed by and starring Bana, Love The Beast is about his love affair with his 1974
Ford GT Falcon Coupe, which he's had since he was a teenager.
The movie looks at Bana's emotional restoration of the Falcon, and his entry into
the Targa Tasmania Rally in which the car was badly damaged.
His friends, father, mother and wife feature in the movie, as do celebrity
psychologist Dr Phil McGraw, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, and US talk show host
Jay Leno, who shares Bana's love of cars.
The 40-year-old actor, who has appeared in films such as Romulus My Father, Munich
and the upcoming Star Trek movie, said it was more than a car movie, it was about
having an obsession.
"The whole point of making this film was not necessarily to make a film for car
people, it was to make a film on behalf of people like myself, on behalf of people
who are crazy and have a passion about something - in my case it just happens to be
cars," Bana said.
"And the title Love the Beast is, for me, a metaphor - beast being a metaphor for
whatever your beast is."
Love the Beast is released in Australia on March 12.
