Qld copper mine cuts 96 jobs

A northwest Queensland mine in receivership since last year has become the latest
resource firm to cut jobs with nearly 100 workers laid off.
Mining has been suspended at the Lady Annie Copper Mine, 120km north of Mount Isa,
since flooding last month.
The mine owner, CopperCo, has been in receivership since late last year.
Receivers Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu said in a statement that mining and haulage had
been indefinitely suspended in the interests of shareholders, in the wake of severe
flooding and preparation of a new operations plan.
But copper processing and administration would continue as normal.
Sixty-eight workers were stood down last month - and another 28 - will lose their jobs.
Lady Annie mine had been advertised for sale and a number of parties had expressed
interest in it, the receivers said.
