Zardari upbeat over friendly, brotherly ties with Iran

Islamabad, March 9, IRNA -- Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday expressed pleasure with friendly and brotherly ties with Iran.

He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA prior to his Tuesday trip to Tehran to participate in the Summit of Leaders of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Referring to the numerous historical, cultural and religious affinity between the two nations, the president said that proximity of the two nations serves mutual interests.

Zardari commented on ways to expand economic ties between the two countries, the future of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and the regional issues, expressing deep concern over the Israeli atrocities in the occupied Palestinian territories./end
