Sudan releases 56 Yemeni fishermen
SANA'A, Mar. 08 (Saba) - 56 Yemeni fishermen who have been seized by
the Sudanese authorities for four months on illegally entering
Sudan's waters have arrived in the Sana'a International Airport.
A primary court in the Sudanese al-Sharq al-Awsat province ruled
earlier to release the Yemeni fishermen after they served four
months in province jails and their boats were confiscated, according
to a source at the Cooperative Fish Union.
In January, a Yemeni fisherman was reported dead as Sudanese marines
hit the boat carrying the fisherman along with other mates.
The boat was struck as it illegally entered the Sudanese waters.
Authorities became aware about the incident through the killed
fisherman's mates who could manage to escape after they were not
targeted by a Sudanese missile.
