Yemeni-Lebanese Economic Council established
SANA'A, March 08 (Saba) - Prime Minister Ali Mujawar and Lebanon
prime Minister Foud Saniora announced here on Sunday forming a
Yemeni-Lebanese Economic Council for Businessmen.
The announcement was made during their meeting with Yemeni and
Lebanese businessmen, where Mujawar affirmed the importance of
activating the commercial exchange between Yemen and Lebanon.
He called on the Yemeni and Lebanese businessmen to invest in
different economic and commercial fields in Yemen, particularity in
the fields of fisheries, industry and tourism.
Mujawar confirmed the importance of businessmen's role in studying
the investment constituents in both countries as well as the
obstacles that face the commercial exchange.
He highlighted the successes of Lebanese investments in Yemen,
especially in fields of university teaching, medicine and tourist
services.
For his part, Saniora confirmed the importance of enhancing the
cooperation ties between the two countries, mentioning that the
Yemeni-Lebanese talk session dealt with many issues, topped by the
coming steps to activate the investment, economic and trade
cooperation.
He said that economic and commercial exchange between the two
countries is not more than US $ 15 million, although the two
countries' components that motivate widening the exchange fields.
He talked over the cooperation fields that would participate in
raising economies of both countries, affirming on offering the
facilities that would increase the commercial exchange.
Saniora affirmed the adherence of the two governments to present all
the requisite facilities for the private sector to activate the
cooperation ties between the two brotherly peoples.
