PM affirms support of government for women empowerment
SANA'A, March 07 (Saba)-Prime Minister Ali Mujawar affirmed on Saturday support of
the government for political, economic, social and cultural empowerment.
The prime minister said -in his speech which was delivered by information minister
Hassan al-Lawzi to the fourth national women meeting which is begin in Sana'a - that
the government paid all efforts to develop woman within electoral program of
President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2006.
He said that the second plan of economic and social development indicated to the
participation of women in political life and combating violence against women.
Prime minister said also that the government approved to discuss recommendation of
the international committee of the agreement of combating all kinds of
discrimination against woman in coming period.
He wished that the international organizations in Yemen could fund programs of those
recommendations, saying that the Yemeni woman has achieved a lot especially in field
of education as rate of illiteracy among girls be lower than before.
The prime minister also indicated to the number of Yemeni female ministers and
others who have high position in the government.
He concluded his speech by wishing the meeting comes with results that serve issues
of women.The fourth National Woman Conference would discuss during two -day a
condition of the Yemeni woman and her issues under slogan of hand in hand for better
future for Yemen."
The conference is organized by the Women National Committee and 500 participants are
taking part in the conference, organizers said.
Chairwoman of the committee Rashidah al-Hamadani said that that the conference would
discuss 16 papers presented by academicians and specialists in issues of women in
the government and non government bodies.
She made it clear that papers would deal with the legal amendments of laws
associated with women and reality of girl education.
