Iran to host prestigious IT confab in May

Tehran, March 7, IRNA -- Iran plans to host the most prestigious international conference on information technology (IT), which was earlier held in Austria and China, in Kish Island from May 11-14.

The event 'International Conference on Research and Practical Issues of Enterprise Information Systems' (CONFENIS) is to be attended by representatives from well-known universities and scientific IT centers around the world.

The conference was held in Austria in 2006 and in China in 2007 by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), an umbrella organization for national societies working in the field of information technology. It was established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO.

Hosts of the event for the next five years had earlier been determined and it was scheduled to be held in other country, but due to regular pursuance of Iranian officials and IT enthusiasts, the honor of hosting the event was given to Iran.

Main topics for discussion at the event include management of organization knowledge and information systems, information systems and improving working process of the organization, planning of organizational resources and integration of organization's information.

The conference will provide an opportunity for academicians and practitioners throughout the world to gather, exchange ideas, and present original research in the field of enterprise information systems./end
