Iranian minister confers with Syrian VP

Damascus, March 4, IRNA -

Iran`s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Mohammad Saeedi-Kia
conferred with Syrian Vice-President Farouq al-Shara here Tuesday
evening.

In the meeting, the Iranian minister submitted a written message from
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his Syrian counterpart Bashar al
Assad to Syrian vice-president.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Saeedi-Kia did not reveal the
content of the message, but it is said that the message is an
invitation for President al-Assad to attend ECO summit in Tehran.
The 10th summit of Economic Cooperation Organization ( ECO) will be
held here in Tehran on March 11, 2009.
Heads of member states will evaluate financial crisis, consider
regional challenges, ways of accelerating implementation of
agreements, such as ECOTA, and transportation agreement as well as
ways of fighting against drug smuggling.
On his meeting with Syrian vice president, Saeedi?Kia said that they
discussed bilateral cooperation as well as joint high committee
meeting which was held in Tehran during recent visit of Syrian Prime
Minister Mohammad Naji al-Atri.
Saeedi-Kia is to depart Damascus for Tehran later tonight.
